The son of my wife's cousin emerged from the rocks in Channel Islands Harbor today and proudly displayed what he called a Sea Slug. I took a quick pic with the phone and requested that he immediately return the little critter back into to harbor. It looks like Navanax inermis to me. Thought I had seen most if not many of the local Nudibranchs, but this little guy was new to me.

Yup, that's a Navanax! They're beautiful animals, although not technically nudibranchs. (They belong to an older division of the opisthobranchs.)

Lynne has it... Navanax inermis, an opisthobranch but not a nudibranch... in fact it eats nudibranchs.
