It was in an article in popular mechanics where they tested an insigith when they were released to the public and they were able to achieve well over 100mpg under their testing conditions which I don't really recall. If you read the window sticker on an Insight you will see that EPA testing produced some results in highway driving in the upper 80's near 90 mpg. Of course fuel economy really depends a lot on the driver. I now I get substantially worse fuel economy in my wife's explorer than she does.

NJDivegirl, is self-service gasoline still a no-no in NJ? If so, what a deal!

Ridiculous isnt it! Seems like they dont trust us - like we are going to blow ourselves up or something ;-) You should see some of the kids they've got pumping gas!!!

Tell ya what - alot of people dont want it - they are spoiled out of there mind. Personally, I get tired of waiting for some yahoo to pump my gas at 6am when I'm running late for work - I would rather have the option to do it myself!

Actually, chrpai, equipped as I would like it, the Prius would run about $22,000, but after seeing it today, it is a smaller vehicle than I be comfortable driving around big trucks.

NJ, I'd love to have someone pump gas for me! Here, that would cost another arm and a leg per gallon, if you can find it.

I had always wondered why cars don't just have a button for "accelerator on". So some people actually push the pedal down only part way? ;)

Why do you have to lie to make your argument? The EPA sticker on the car WILL NOT say 90mpg. It will say 57/56 for the Automatic and 60/66 for the 5 speed manual.

Don't believe me? Read:

I drove a 26' supermover UHAUL from VA to TX a couple months ago. It had a cruise control.... "pedal on". The governer kicked in at 75mph. I did the math, I got about 5mpg on that trip. The cost of the gas was more then the cost of renting the truck.

first...I find it hard to believe that a UHAUL had cruise control other than a Brick....and actually made it up to 75mph....you must have been going downhill being pulled by a semi...:D

Rent a Budget truck....UHAUL is just beyond dangerous.

Not to mention they're easier to pack.
