Well I am pretty much a true blue Ford guy. I have nothing to ever complain about with any ford product I own. Between my parents, in-laws, my wife and I we have a 92 Ranger, a 97 Tarus, 03 Expedition, 04 F150, 98 F150, 98 Mustang Gt, and an 03 Explorer. I will not claim that any of those are very environmentally friendly but I do find it interesting that with my wife driving my mustang we have easily gotten 30mpg out of it on the highway and with me and my lead foot behind the wheel 26-27mpg. My next car purchase will more than likely be an Escape Hybrid. I will enjoy passing all thos Excursion, Suburban, and Durango driving soccer moms stuck at the gas pump while enjoying 45mpg (more than twice what the average SUV gets) Someone stated that they would only save an average of 250 gallons per. Now if everyone were saving 250 gallons per year, heck if even half of the people with cars were saving that amount it would make a HUGE impact. I have ask if you vote, becuase that would be like saying well one vote doesn't make much of a difference.

Now...back to bashing FORD...."F-d Over Rebuilt Dodge"

Found On Road Dead
Fix Or Replair Daily

there's also (i'm not sure what planet this is from):

First On Race Day

as for Dodge:

Drips Oil Drops Grease Everywhere

in those race cars.
The Ford 9" rearend is standard, everybody uses them. Of course they have pump circulated and cooled oil in them but it is the basic 9" mechanicals in there.

My biggest problem with Ford is that they make everything so difficult to work on. Ever change the thermostat on a 302?
I hope you also need to change the water pump at the same time as it has to come off. Actually you can change the thermo without pulling the pump but it is MUCH harder that way.

That said, other than the thermostat and the ignition module on the distributor it has been very reliable.

Thats as bad as as GM putting the distributor in the back of hte engine. And speaking of hard to work on, A friend of mine had to remove the windshield washer fluid resevoir to get to the battery on a lumina to replace it. Now that is just plain silly.

You sissy's talking about how hard it is to work on your domestics...

My buddy and I went looking for the oil filter on a Honda one day - he's a mechanic's apprentice.

It took the two of us five minutes just to FIND the thing. Domestics are a snap compared to just about any import alive. :)

I'm no apprentice....but if it wasn't on the block(where 99.99999% of vehicles have a filter), it was probably near the passenger side wheel well area....

As for hybrids...I'm convinced there's a little more tweaking for them to do across the board....let a few things go wrong and let those who are gung-ho on the things pay for the inital repairs....I'll wait a few years

LOL- The one import I ever owned (besides Jens' Hyundai) was an 87 Celica GTS. I always work on my own cars and knew I was in trouble five minutes into the first tune up.

I popped off the SP wires, and instead of a plug, I see a hole going down and a plug barely in sight at the bottom. I fiqure "no problem, just break out the extender for my ratchet". Wrong!!! The sleeve is too narrow to get a spark plug socket into, so it's off to the auto parts strore. They tell me I have to buy a special socket from a Toyota dealer :upset:

So I head to the dealer, pay more for this stupid socket than all the rest of the tune up parts combined, and head back home.

Two hours later I still haven't gotten the first plug loose, I'm out over $100, and I'm sitting ther wondering what I was thinking when I sold the Z28 for this thing

I've put ~2000miles on the prius and still think its the best car i've ever bought. Plenty of room, suprizing performance and great mileage.
Take one out for a test drive, you'll see how far this technology has come, and imagine where it might go.
wish me luck

gung ho,
John

Great, you've saved 33 gallons of gas so far compared to a vehicle that gets 30mpg! At $1.50 a gallon thats a savings of $49.50. At that rate you'll make up the difference in the cost of the vehicle in 94,000miles.

Happy driving.

hmmm... that would probably work out well for me being I just hit 80K in my 2000 VW. Would be a hell of alot higher if I didnt get this deal working from home 2days a week :)
