For illustration the photo enclosed below is one of our high pressure oxygen compressors with the non conductive thermoplastic hose in orange used for oxygen service commissioning.

The Middle East client in question required we remove the British Union Jack flag from the front panel

One thing to consider is no one here is talking about transfilling breathing air here
SAE 100R7 and R8 are fine for scuba and fire departments and breathing air but tranfilling oxygen being a magnetic gas requires the hose internal core to be NON CONDUCTIVE
This is the first essential factor in the choice of hose.

I may have missed the fact that people were talking about hoses for use with pure oxygen. If so, I apologize: I was coming at it from a breathing gas perspective. Pure oxygen brings about a whole raft of additional issues. I do not have enough proper training or experience to feel comfortable offering suggestions in that context.

By way of a side line I can't recommend simple green either for standard anodised parts ( I think its call type 1 anodising in US) as it will wash out the anodising colour. Type III anodising or hard anodising is OK

I found that out the hard way. I left a batch of heavily greasy anodized parts in a batch of 1:15 Simple Green for a few hours. Simple Green efficiently removed the anodization along with the grease. :-(
 
My guess is you're not planning of having kids any time soon.
You pissed me off, man. Already have some of it, not planning to do more.
Further a hydraulic shop will use a "chop saw" to cut your so called virgin clean hose so now you have bits of rubber and small particles of the steel wire all waiting to fly down your hose at sonic speed inducing impact and together with heat increase from the adiabatic shock load. Just saying it's a bad idea.
Ah. mea culpa. Assuming not to flush "fresh off the shelf" HP hoses with purposed gas before installing is a bad idea.
 
Now on industrial (non breathing) oxygen compressors Acetone is indeed used for cleaning the pipes in big oxygen compressors 400 HP with 12 inch diameter intake pipes and a 3 inch diameter discharge lines for the like of steel works and Bessemer Plants but the critical parts is never on rubber compounds and hose its alway on the metal pipe and tubing.
All that things you're talking IMHO are not related to main question of this topic.
IMHO, again, it's simply try to over-impress topic readers with your hope-really knowledge
and leave the last word to you.

Question was "How clean is an "industrial" off the shelf hydraulic hose???"
My answer - clean if fresh made. Simply flush it with intended gas and use it.
 
Air hoses (such as diving hoses) have very small holes in the outside layer, this allows (leaking) air to get out of the hose without dammaging the outside layer.
