I'm beginning to think maybe I don't even need a wet suit. During my checkout dive in August the water temp was 70 and I don't think it gets much warmer than that around here and Lord knows it gets a lot colder.

Leaning toward the Bare drysuit but haven't committed yet. Still time to change my mind before I buy. (That would be something new)

How about it? Any of you cold water guys skip the wetsuit altogether?

PorcuFin,

I'm still a very, very new dry suit diver, but . . .

I have a Bare "XCD2" dry suit and have dived it in the springs in north Florida. The temperatures in the springs hang around 68-70 degrees year round.

I dived the springs this past summer/fall in my XCD2 with the fleece undies that were included in the package by DiveTank.com and stayed very comfortable. I had no problems with overheating, if that's your concern.

As an aside, one of the instructors at the LDS with which I'm affiliated dives a dry suit in the springs all the time she is instructing.

Hope this helps you choose your direction.
