There are a number of other certification agencies around, several with much tighter standards than the "big" ones. Why reinvent the wheel?

Then the idea of turning "Dive Dry with Dr. Bill" into a certification agency is interesting... plenty of people already think I teach dry suit diving! Never even been inside one... I like my diving wet, and wild!

You need to sell it to the insurance company that underwrites your policy. Once you have convinced an underwriter you can go certify anyone to do anything you like.

Someone has done this over here(netherlands)
They started the WOSD world organisation of scuba diving :confused:sure...
you can find them at www.wosd.nl they do have a englisch and a german section as well.

If you don't like the PADI online concept, just skipp them :D
They sell you a dvd and sent you home untill your done with it :11: and then come in for the pool training and OW dives

What about Scuba High Intensity Training?
S... H... I... :no

;)

Teamcasa:
I serious about this. I would think a new agency would benefit the sport.
If the training was more specific (than PADI) and had tougher standards, I think it would be a accepted by most places. The hardest part would be finding an insurance company willing to step up without requiring a billion dollars in premiums.

The real key here is to ensure your standards met/exceeded the RTSC standards and you had at least one 'name' or project involved to give credibility.

GUE is relatively new and is an offshoot of the WKPP. I am sure some well known wreck divers could create their own agency fairly quickly to teach 'The North East Wreck Diving Way' or some such. All it takes is a repected presence, good plan and lots of marketing.

The real question is do you really need to re-invent the wheel as a new agency or is there one out there now you could hijack into what your looking for?

Don't forget that you would need to write your own course materials first.

And the patch. You're going to need the embroidered patch.

That- and dollars.

Cubic, metric dollars

Well at least you can design your own LOGO

I don't see why not. Martial artists are starting their own school, and their own brand of jujutsu, kenpo, etc. everyday. All you need are pretty C cards and logo.... As long as you are dirt poor, and can't be sued, why do you even need liability insurance??

You mean you lied about your dry suit class! Darn it, I was going to cross dress to sign up...
