I'm looking for a wetsuit . .

What is your opinion on Henderson Superstrech?

Or . . . What would you recommend for diving the cold California waters?

Thanx :bunny: B

Well, if you have to dive in a wetsuit Henderson makes very good ones, I also like O'neil and Harveys. Better yet buy a dry suit! If you are prone to getting cold a wet suit is only so good but a dry suit will keep you toasty!

Gonna dive in cold water, get a dry suit. If it's gotta be wet then Henderson's Gold Core line makes a great suit. I have dove in a one piece Henderson Gold core in 32 degree water. It was a short dive , 28 minutes, but the cold was not too bad.

........... Arduous ................

The dry suit sounds great, but starting out I'm not sure about spending so much money. I do want to get a good quality suit though. I found Oneil suits on sale this week, I think I will take a better look at them.
It is hard doing all the research but I'm sure it will be worth it. The next thing is choosing between a 2-piece suit or one piece suit. Decisions, decisions.
This is so fun, it gives me a new obsession.

Thanx for the input

well not only that, but if you are just starting out... FOREGET about a drysuit. It's just another thing to learn/ worry about. and requires special training.

A Good 7mm suit will do you just fine... Oneill makes a great suit and Hendersons are also pretty darn nice.

For the money, you simply can't go wrong with an Oneill

HOWEVER... FIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A WETSUIT

try as many suits on as you can... find one that fits like a glove and you'll be a happy woman...

Good Luck :D

Go Dry Suit , Just figure out the money. You don't need to spend $2500 on a dry suit. Shop hard, under 1K. 7mil, then you need a 3 mil, and more gloves and hoods and boots and then some more stuff for warm water and you're still wet and cold. Then you got to go thru the part about having the wrong stuff and putting it back on wet. O did I leave out the part about you can't move in a 7 mil ? Bend your arms or legs ? And then you take it off and you're still wet and cold. Rent a Dry suit and take a dry suit class. Try it.

adios don O

Can't move in a 7mil??? Theres some credible information for you.

And my God, who would want to get wet when the dive...

It's best to start with a wetsuit, LEARN HOW TO DIVE, then progress into it if you feel the need.

If you are going to go with a wetsuit for cold water, then go for a two peice. It gives you the double layer over your core area but allowes you still to move your arms and legs. I also found it is easier to get in and out of. I also bought a dive skin and wear that under my wetsuit for a little extra protection and it makes it a lot easier to pull on the wet suit.

Good luck with your purchase.

Quick question? Not being a smartass, I really want to know

What happens when an urchin punctures the suit???

Living in CA, it will happen sooner or later.... I've NEVER seen a drysuit in action at any of my local dive spots. Do you think there is a reason?

I dont know much about Dry Suits, but maybe a can of "Fix-A-Flat" would work??? :D

I don't think I would be able to afford a dry suit to start off, I'll keep reading coments and advice.

Thanx :bunny: B :bunny:
