Hit 1400 a couple weeks before turning 61. Certified 1992. DM 2014. Never worked a boat or anywhere that I could rack up dive numbers, though ive assisted a few times with an instructor. Long slow beach dives for me.

certifided in 1980 at 16. I am not sure what this polls shows. It might be that diving is a sport for old farts, because it is expensive and is not as tough on the knees as rugby. It might show that ScubaBoard is for old farts because it is low tech. I wonder how it would look if you did the same survey on FB or Reddit.
LOL, I resemble those remarks. …don’t think FB or other Social media is a geared for divers as ScubaBoard.

Long slow beach dives for me.

Is good shore diving easily available to you where you live with decent variety?

As others have pointed out, this poll is more representative of the participation on scubaboard, not the overall participation in general diving.
I must admit, I’m a little relieved. If this poll was true of the whole world of diving it wouldn’t be long before it died completely.
More of us need to spread the word to the younger divers….WOW a forum & website just for us. I try to whenever I can.

Yes. SE Florida, FT Lauderdale area. When weather bad, head an hour north to Blue Heron Bridge (world renowned for diversity from nudis to manatees). Short dive for me is 2 hours.

A lot of divers in the 60 plus age dive at the bridge
