30 years old. first dsd in 2007, and certified in 2019.6 about 30 dives
I hope when I'm 70 still can and love diving

An occasionally cited reason is moving away from diving. Someone might live in or near a coastal area conducive to good local diving, then more far from it, leaving then with a choice of expensive travel dive vacations, diving locally in less optimal conditions (e.g.: quarries, a lake) or giving it up.
YES Shanghai is a typical diver-unfriendly city, It's hard to find open water where you can dive. You can only go diving in reservoirs hundreds of kilometers away. The visibility is not good and the water is cold and dive cost is expensive ($258 3 dive, not including transport food and accommodation
For me, the pool is my best choice. close clean cheap.

I’m 63 and have been diving for twenty four years. Have about 1600 tolal dives.

I popped out around the time when all this sort of stuff was happening
Got straight into the water soon after then went snorkelling then diving

First course in 1976, spent a couple of hours with that instructor last week
If I am not diving I am building and buying gear or dreaming about diving

Not even close to a million dives but it's sure as heck starting to feel like it
