I've been certified since '99, and have recently logged my 69th dive. So my average is a bit meh.. But I stopped diving completely for several years and restarted in 2010, and have logged 45 since then. I'd like to do more but my finances aren't great, I don't have a complete set of gear, the countries where I have had my roots over the past 8 years (Switzerland and Belgium) aren't great for diving, and I don't have a car.

So if I get around 15 a year in, I consider myself pretty lucky :)

It isn't a competition, so you shouldn't compare yourself against anyone else. Some years are more than others, but since we got certified, we've averaged 60 dives per year.

I agree 25 is too few, but I do wonder how do you guys pull off 200+ per year, espeically if you are not a dive professional, ie. instructors, PSD, ... 200 per year means 4 dives per week EVERY week. If you have a full time job not involve diving, then you need to make 4 dives per weekend EVERY weekend. So diving is all you do on weekend all year long????

My wife and I were certified in April 2011 OW, and in May went to Bonaire, did 23 dives, then Key Largo in July to get AOW and Nitrox. We both just completed our 100th dives in Bonaire last week. We did about 80 in the first 12 months. Next year we will both be 70 years young! The key is, we are retired and are able...we arent leaving the kids a thing unless we check out unexpectedly.

Eelnoraa, I see you're answered your own question....;)
If you live right next to a dive site, you can do 4 in a weekend easily, then just repeat that throughout the year (providing the dive site doesn't freeze over....when it's cold and even if Lake Ontario or Lake Huron isn't frozen, I've only managed one dive at a time in the winter months).

Personally I average 100 dives a year, most of them shore dives. Yes the weekend can revolve around diving.

I am not a dive professional (instructor, DM etc) and have a day time job. I try and stick to 100 or more dives a year. At least 80 these are always decompression or cave though the latter is a new hobby and only have 40 hours (25 dives). Its a great way to stay in shape and it does wonders for my stress levels. I might also have a slight addiction apparently :dontknow:

Nearest dive site at least hour away, the rest is 4 hour min.

many people travel to dive in addition to (or instead of) local diving, and in the right place it's easy to do a bunch of dives on a trip.

Dive all the time, night dives, mid week dives, plus log plenty of dives on trips.

It's easy to log 4 cenote dives a day, close to 24 dives in a week when visiting the Mx caves and diving C1 :).

Dive count will probably go down now that I'm full cave and primarily diving doubles in OW - but bottom time goes up :).

2-6 tanks on weekends, and 1-2 tanks midweek from shore will get you there pretty quickly, especially if you factor in a couple or three of weeks of dive vacation banging out 20+ dives/week
