I had a DUI delta and thought it was an excellent BC. It came with integrated weights. I did trade in the Delta for a BP/W but the Delt was the next best thing. I assume that the Intrepid is similar. My wife uses the weight & trim system and loves it. For the bargin price of 160 + 83 you get an excellent system IMHO.

Hi Jarhed.

Thanks for your response. In another thread someone provided link to Divernet review for the DUI Delta BC. I was a little concerned. But it's good to hear some other opinion. The DUI Intrepid looks like a smaller BC than the Delta. But so far haven'st found any review on it.

Thanks.

Looks like a decent basic starter BC.....very standard though...I have some closeouts on my shelves too and Im willing to help you out on a new BC if you want to roughly tell me what your price range is I will PM you some options.......

I read the review that you linked to, I don't agree with much of it. When the delta (and probably the intrepid) is properly adjusted, it was as secure as a BP/W setup. Never had trouble with the dump valves. Love the inner bladder w/ shell design, Very durable. I dive with a large DSLR camera system and the BC was an asset with the freedom of movement inherent in the harness and well placed bent D rings.

Just a few thoughts, but I put ~ 180 dives on the Delta and it is still in excellent condition. I think that you will be very happy with your purchase if you decide to go with the delta

Take care,
john

Thanks Jarhed.

The DUI Delta is not on sale, or at least the "sale" price of $500 is still high. I won't be buying that. So I'm still looking for comment/reviews on the cheaper $160 Intrepid.

Dive Right In Scuba, I haven't really set a price range, but the $500 for the DUI Delta is too high for me. There're also Golem BP/W combos selling for $340 that look attractive. I'm considering that. (And have come across several used BC, including a Probe that was only used a few times, at $100-120, but I didn't know enough and didn't "jump" at the time).

Howdy Torontonian,

I just located this thread as I was searching for more info in the Intrepid Explorer as well. The deal you had located, was that $160 Canadian or USD? If Canadian, can you tell me what shop that was at? I may be interested in that BC, along with the integrated weight package also. Thanks.

Cheers,

I have the DUI Delta. It is very well made and very adjustable. It can be used in many different conditions. I have been very happy with mine for the most part. The one thing I dislike is the size of the wing. At 58LBS of lift on mine it is not ideal for single tank diving nor ideal for twins. I am fairly sure they make a lighter weight wing +/- 35lbs that would work well. That said I would go for a BP and Wing combo. I am a convert to the simple Hog setup.
