Look here at the KONA COST box on the left. On my screen I live 2 inches down from the top of the inset in the coast and all that writing to the left is dive sites. For a reference, it takes 5 to 6 hours to drive all around the island. You figure.

Okay, okay, that is too cruel. The boat dive sites are included.:D

About 20 miles weekly and every other month we catch a boat out of Long Beach for Catalina or San Clemente, about 2 hours and 150 miles every 8 weeks. Boats are better IMHO.

LDS is three minutes from the house (dangerous).

Cove 2, Edmonds Underwater Park, and Mukilteo are 30 minutes without traffic; up to an hour and a half at the wrong time of day. It's 45 minutes to the boat ramp to pick up the Bandito charter to head off for Zee's Reef and Sunrise, the KVI towers, etc.

Why do you think I've racked up so many dives so fast?

Krungthep (Bangkok) to Pattaya usually takes about an hour - Pattaya/Sattahip is my usual dive location.

Krungthep to Chumporn (jumping off point for Ko Tao/Samui) is a six hour journey -have only done this twice.

In October, nagonoj and I drove for nine hours to go diving in Krabi...

I have driven well over 200 miles to reach Lake Travis (Austin) from the Dallas area, for a good weekend of diving. Anything further, warrents a flight.

In the Los angeles area there is a lot to choose from...

Depending on boat or beach... anywhere from 1/2 hour to an 1 1/2 hours.

3 dive shops and a Sports Chalet close by too.

Typically I drive 45 minutes to Cape Ann to my secret dive spot every weekend. In two weeks time I will be driving to Key Largo From the north shore of Boston. One way its 1600+ miles. Why? Because I don't want to rent anything including tanks if I can help it. + I don't pay for a car or gas, so It's only time, and I have a heavy foot. Sid
