I'm a Fish!
I have always had a problem with getting dry mouth, even after 10mins of diving. currently own MK25/s600. I usually resort to taking the regulator out of my mouth and swalling saliva a few times, but that only helps for a few mins. can't be doing it so often.
whats the best way to combat this annoyance? thanks folks

Drink more water before you dive, drymouth is a sign of dehydration and that is not good for diving. Regs that help with drymouth could also hide the fact that you are dehydrated. In reality though sometimes no matter how much water you drink before you dive you could still have drymouth.

I drink enough before dives, that sometimes I pee 3 or more times in my wetsuit. yes I pee in my wetsuit :P
i'll just have to live with it I guess haha
Manado this weekend. can't wait!

Get a Mares Abyss . problem solved

Actually, you can stay SP and solve the problem, just get either an old G250 with the metal air barrel or an older balanced adjustable metal 2nd stage. You can still use your 1st stage. You'll be amazed at the difference, and there's no loss in performance. The all metal 2nd is a little heavier, but with the right mouthpiece and hose routing you won't mind. The current G250hp does not have a metal air barrel and so won't add any moisture.

Or you can just live with the drymouth.

I think the Abyss is a good choice, even if you don't get drymouth. It has a metal body which helps moisturize the air from your tank.

Also, your breathing rate can make a difference- if you are breathing fast, you'll notice drymouth sooner.

or keep what you have and just swish some water around in your mouth when your practicing your skills ;) ;)

My Apeks regs give me serious cotton mouth. I just swish a little water around in my mouth when I feel dry.

Breathing wet?:rofl3:
Sorry couldn't resist.
But really, it's more an air hog sort of thing. Slow down, air consumption goes down, and no more dry mouth. There's no other way a reg could really help dry mouth except breathing wet...

I dive with a metal Conshelf 14 and never had a problem. Then I borrowed my brothers scubapro with a plastic second stage. I couldn't believe the difference. Metal is the way to go IMHO. The water you breath out condenses on the metal and rehydrates the air you breath in, in case anyone needed an explanation ;---).
