I started an Excel file, but don't really like it. I'd like to find some sort of software I could use..put basic info in the paper log(depth, time, quick notes) then keep a more detailed log for personal refrence....
Interesting. I have thought of converting my log book to .pdf, with entries. Then I could just input the data, and print.
I suppose you could set up an Access database with a report page. Then you only need to print when you feel like it. Problem with .pdf or Access is the printing. I have not found a waterproof or semi water proof paper that inkjet printer ink will adhere to without smudging or costing a fortune.

I still use my original PADI Pages, I also add Photo's, Bus. Cards, sticker's(DM's) and other Stuff. It Looks Part Log Book, part Scrap Book(a very Manley Scrap Book:D ).

I LOVE that! My wife scraps, so I will have to tell here that my log book is my manly-man scrapbook.

As for the question, I record on paper. I'm just old fashioned like that. However I couldn't find a dive log I liked. So I looked at all them available on the web, then made my own. Print out new pages on the computer whenever my log starts getting low on spares. PLus I have the option to make quick changes to future log pages as my diving changes.

My computer is my log book. Funny thing though, if you change the battery and don't back it up, guess what? Yep, by by. So my 47 dives are gone forever. Makes it really hard to show your experience to a DM. Lesson learned, back up on a regular basis. Never said that in the manual.

I wish I could choose two. I both log them on paper and download them. I consider my paper log to be the official record. However, my dive profiles, SAC and RMV calculations are just stored in my Aeris profile. However, I do print out each dive and create a PDF file of it in case my software goes kaput.

I lost my first 110 dives when my bag got stolen. :( Didn't log for a bit after that and my 120-190 logs are in a moldy mess of a journal I used for a while...it was in my basement when it flooded and I didn't get around to looking at it for a few months. I'm attempting to re-create the moldy book into a fresh new log book, don't know if the new one will fly when I have to show it but it's better than nothing. :D

There is a function of the survey that allows you to set it up so that people could select more than one choice. I think more than a fw people would have opted for that.

Primarily I log in my NAUI book and also in Word on my pc.
When I download from the computer, I log the dive details there too.
Would be nice to find a nice dive log program.

I log mine in a PADI log book, but I also have a chart on a backup disk that I put the vital info on (date, site, dive buddies, minimum temperature, maximum depth, beginning and ending PSIs, bottom time for the dive and total bottom time).
