Ladies have more hair thus trapping more air around the head???

Just make sure the hood is vented. If it's not a red hot nail will burn a few well placed holes. I use a #6 finish nail with the point ground away. Don't inhale. If you feel the chilly water than add a small baffle to slow the water flow.

Make sure the hood has a close fit around the face to begin with.

I know you're looking at suits with integrated hoods, but I thought I would throw this in. I have a Bare Velocity 7/6 with a 5mm hooded vest. The seals on the suit and the vest keep the water from seeping in. It only has six dives on it (I'm new) but I've had it down to 52 degrees twice and it was toasty warm.

I have the 7mm version of that item to go with my 7mm Bare Arctic. It's a great combo, I seem top be faring better than some John/jacket/hood wearing buddies. If you find that a little warm for warmer weather consider the 3/7 chicken vest to wear under your suit in the summer.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input.

Another question - can you wear the "hooded vest" with a "farmer john" wetsuit? or is it better to go with just a separate hood?
