I noticed the same thing, so I'm trying to break that habit (except when doing a mask clear of course - tried using my mouth for that - it doesn't work. . . )detroit diver:I find that I fill up my hood when I am exhaling thru my nose. When I stop doing that, the hoods stops filling up with gas!

Interesting, because today my left ear is really giving me problems, feels like a reverse block (and I do not have trouble clearing my ears while diving and was not at all congested yesterday when I did my dives)Scuba_Jenny:Glad I found this thread. Its that time of year again to start wearing a hood. Last year when I had air trapped, I just pressed on the hood and it was fine. My biggest problem was the exhaled air finding its way into my hood past my ears. By the end of the dive, my ears were so messed up that they hurt to hear out of. So I have put some small holes (created by a large nail heated over a candle )in the hood where my ears are. I hope this helps. Will find out this weekend.
