I have a Seaskun ds. For better or worse I got the warm neck with the velcro tabs. @lexvil advised against this and he was probably right, lol! I should have gotten the simple neck. The deluxe is more of a pain but I've since gotten used to it.

I'd like to get a Waterproof hood that I can tuck down into this area as my neck gets cold. My current hood doesn't have a bib. Does anyone know which model to get? The 7/10 works fine, but I think they have one with a mid size bib? Still for drysuits?

Has anyone gone down this road with the simple neck? I'm sure it would work the same. Which hood worked for you?

Thanks, just looking to pick one up for the winter season while they're on sale. 27° today got me thinking🥶🥶🥶🤣

just looking to pick one up
Almost any that fits you)) If the bib is too long for the warm neck, simply trim it.

The Waterproof 7/10 is an excellent hood.

I usually dive in 4°C water for around 2+ hours and have found that the combination of the Henderson Ice Cap (no longer available) and the hood works very well together.

Waterproof offers a similar cap - the H2 Icehood

I’ve had some short skirt hoods in the past but don’t recall the brands, I use the waterproof H1 10 mm now and have for several years. Have you/do you tried the waterproof neck seal to use with the quick neck system?

I have the Waterproof neoprene neck seal for use with the Si Tech quick neck system and it's great. Very comfortable.

You know what.. I completely forgot about that. It's been on my list to try forever, lol.

Ordered.

Happy Holidays all!

@lexvil I might have to give the H1 10mm a try at some point too. I think I can squeeze one more season out of current 5/7mm. I'm hoping the Waterproof hood will seal over the neoprene neck seal and keep me toasty. The rest of my suit feels awesome, but once the head / neck start to get cold it just creeps through my whole body.

I seem to recall tucking the H1 into the warm neck but not sure. With the neoprene neck seal I never notice any cold on my neck and the skirt of the hood will sometimes roll up when it hits the quick neck, still no issue.

On another note, how about contacting you “guy” at orca and see if they are willing to offer some sort of “upgrade” to those who bought the ZD710 ? The better tight beam looks like a good improvement.

I've used both the Neo and YRVA hoods with the neoprene neck seal. Neither of them have a bib or are long enough to be tucked into the neck seal, but are just long enough that they come up to the edge of the neck seal so that almost no cold water get on my neck.

The “warm neck” is a neoprene cover at the base of the neck seal system, it purpose (other than making leaks harder to fix) is to tuck the bottom of the hood into it to stop cold water getting onto/around a silicone or latex neck seal, I may have just misunderstood but you don’t tuck the hood into the neck seal.

I just re-read your post and I was the one who misunderstood. I thought you were talking about that you couldn't remember if you tucked your hood into the neoprene neck seal, not the warm neck neoprene cover -- my bad.

Wanted to report back. Finally swapped out my seal for the waterproof neo seal and did a dive yesterday in the bay. Holy moly what a difference. Never once felt like my neck was cold. Hea never felt cold.

Also was one of my coldest dives to date, 37°. The only thing that ever got cold was my hands after about an 45-60 minutes. For anyone reading, it's more of a working dive so I stay warmer fighting current and collecting oysters. I'd freeze after 30 min if I wasn't working in that temp!
