Do you really want MORE people there?
Besides, our time is limited. I fear when the Margaritaville Resort is built, despite assurances from all that we will have access, our little diving bit of paradise will be unreachable easily by shore.. I hope I am wrong.

As well, I hope you are wrong on the Margaritaville Resort. That is such a nice beach front area with shops and such I really
can't imagine a big resort as being anything that would desired at least not by the locals and occasional visitors. A few extra
divers visiting the yellow brick road...sure, why not. Another mega resort or restaurant NOT SO MUCH !

Unfortunately, I am not wrong. They should be breaking ground soon..

FWIW, Hollywood has been trying to develop that area for many years and have never found the right inve$$tors.. They claim that the public will have access to the beach, but I have a habit of not trusting/believing what elected officials claim. I fear our time there is limited.. Imagine trying to get there while construction is going on. The area from Michigan street to Johnson Street (S/N) and the beach to the parking garage (or is it the intercoastal??) (E/W) is the resort... you really think they will grant the public beach access??

Do you see any parking spaces in this image? That's the amiptheatre on the lower right which is north of the rockpile...

From what I understand, and according to the photo, yes, the parking garage will be gone. I heard it will also go across A1A to the other side. I do not know if that will impact LeTub or any of the other businesses over there..

Look at the right hand side (north side) of the building. You'll see what looks like an ingress/egress driveway. Additionally, the facade for the first six stories on that side of the building look different from what you'll see on top, leading me to believe that that part of the project is a parking garage. Page 14 of the powerpoint deck on the "official website" implies that the project will produce parking revenue. http://www.hollywoodfl.org/DocumentCenter/View/1339 If you look at the 1st page of the city council resolution dated 8/23/2012, it suggests that 500-600 parking spaces will be maintained for pubic use. http://agenda.hollywoodfl.org/cache/00001/178/R-2012-274.pdf Now whether that garage will be open to the public for a reasonable fee is another question completely

according to the plat: http://205.166.161.204/docs/2012/CCCM/20121023_324/12371_Margaritaville Exhibit 1 - 23 pages.pdf
it looks like parking on Johnson St will still be there.. they can not eliminate those because they are outside the plat area and parking is needed for the nearby businesses and johnson must also remain open for the trolleys and taxis, etc.
(the plat PDF wn't let me copy/paste the pic)

and beach access is still there and stated in the agreement for beach services... it's still considered public beach, you just won't be able to sit on their cabanas etc. just like at the Don Cesar a bit farther south.

Additional Edit..................

Page 62 and 63 of this document do indicate that there will be 600 parking spaces for pubic use and that the parking garage will be incorporated in the hotel structure for esthetic purposes http://www.hollywoodfl.org/DocumentCenter/Home/View/902

Unless there is a change to the ground lease and development plan, there will be 600 parking spaces, the spaces will be available to the public and the garage will be part of the overall hotel structure. Still no idea of the parking cost though.

Thanks guys. Let's hope we can still dive here.

Okay, I'm on a mission, not today but soon. After viewing google maps the dark line does in fact
closely line up with the north side of michigan street. The line (possibly YBR) may be a bit to the north
but not by much. I right clicked on what appeared to be the start of the dark line and recorded the gps
numbers. Next time down there I will either follow the heading on the gps to these numbers and see
how close it is OR find the start of the YBR and then come up and mark the spot and see how the numbers
compare.
