Hole in Pioneer wing

Found it while cleaning my gear - as part of the process, I fill the bladder with some fresh water through the inflator hose, and then fully inflate the wing and slosh it around to dilute any salt water left in the wing from the dive (about a quarter of a cup might find it's way in there if you hold the dump button down while submerged). While the wing was fully inflated, I noticed the bubbling.

As I said in the first post - it's just a pinprick, and the wing is still diveable... kinda... just wouldn't want to rely on it as my sole source of buoyancy on the surface in case the hole decided to get bigger. Needs fixing, and Halcyon is swapping it out for me with a new wing, so I don't have any real complaint.

Truth be told, I've only dealt with Halcyon's customer service department once, and it was an all-star quality experience. I wouldn't doubt that they'll send you a brand new wing straight out of the factory.

Hmm, I e-mailed Halcyon about an issue with their Balanced P Valve and never received a reply.

Since I am in the process of purchasing a Halcyon Pioneer wing. But it brings about another question for you folks with experiance from halcyon. How long do they support or stand behind thier product? Shy of obvious abuse or neglect by the diver.

I picked up an Explorer 55 from a guy that had never been used, and when I got it it had obvious shipping damage (and not from the guy sending it to me.)

He ended up EATING the cost of a replacement bladder - Halcyon insisted on charging me, even though it was pretty clear that (1) the wing had never been used, and (2) the punctures were suspiciously in the pattern of a couple of carton staples. The carton used to send it to me had no staples - it was taped shut.

It was pretty clearly original shipping damage from the factory.

I gave the seller the option of either taking it back from me and dealing with it himself or just paying for the replacement, which he would have to do anyway if he wanted to use or sell it.

I assume he called Halcyon as well - the end result was that he ate the bladder cost.

So.... I don't know how long they will take care of you if YOU own it, but if you sell it to someone else for some reason, the answer may be "not at all."

It was in my experience.

Not QUITE the stellar reputation that people have claimed Halcyon has when it comes to standing behind their products - even those that haven't been used.

Gee that was almost funny, about as funny as the Halycon rep after he collected the extra cash you spent on their over priced, over rated wing.

I've had excellent customer service from OMS so far, even as far as having the president John Griffiths contact me via e-mail. You don't see that very often.

Man, you OMS guys can't take a joke... Are you sure he didn't contact you via e-mail to make sure you survived the first few dives on your wing?

This leaky wing virus seems to be catching. I was finishing my gear cleanup after diving yesterday and discovered a pinhole leak in my wing as well.
It's at the top of the right side bellow area and I noticed it the same way you did, Scubaroo, when I was sloshing around fresh water and then squeeze-purging it out. For the record, it's a 36lb Halcyon Pioneer that I bought in November of 2001.

We'll see what the guys in Florida have to say tomorrow morning. I suggest that any other Halcyon wing owners wear a FFM and drygloves when reading this thread. We don't want this infestation to spread.
