REALLY? Who are you talking about? There is me and Jack my Ops Manager that work for HOG and are posting on here, NOBODY else.

I have NO idea at all what your problem with me or my company is but it is obvious you have one.

I will be in Denver TOMORROW evening, would love to buy you a beer and find out EXACTLY what you are taking issue to.

In the mean time is it too much to ask that you refrain from making false accusation that somebody from my organization and stop accusing us of somehow using slander?

Best

Chris Richardson
Hi Chris,

If you review all and any of my posts, I believe that you will find that I do not have a problem with you or your company.

In fact, I will give you praise on your apparent success and your brillant marketing on SCUBAboard.

Please note in my post I used parentheses that enclosed the word working.

Here is a copy of my post:
Let me see if I follow this thread. The OP posts hog or Is there something better. Then the OP buys a SubGear SG - 1000.

The Op gets slammed by posters who are " working " for hog.

Now they are using slander against Scubapro & SubGear.

"Working" implies that they are indirectly connected.

Did you slam the Op or slander SubGear or Scubapro? No.

Yes, I would love to meet with you.

However, my shop is two hours west of Denver over two mountain passes. We received snow last night on the peaks.

It is a beautiful time of year w/ the aspen colors peaking and the fresh snow.

We expect more snow the next two days. If you come up drive carefully.

BTW, I drink Stell Artois.

Chris, I don't think he's libeling you any more than your advocates are libeling ScubaPro. Let me rephrase that: I don't see libeling of either brand. The accusations are being leveled at a much lower level: the users and distributors. Like I said, it all boils down to passion and sometimes that passion needs to be re-directed or even cooled down a bit. We aren't enemies and when we meet we'll find we have far more in common than not. Hey, I don't know if both of you will be in Denver this weekend, but you owe each other a beer! :D

As a caveat, I have dove both with BeaverDivers and cerich. I hope to dive with both of them again at some point.

Chrpai,

I did not accuse anyone specifically.

Are you feeling guilty?

BTW, nice pic of your hog reg in your Avatar.

Is that the hog logo in your signature?

What do you call this stuff?

Oh well, I spoke to some UT Dive club people last w/e and showed them the edge epic coldwater and my HOG regulators, they are needing a bunch to replace the old Brutes they are using. Hope they call you guys. (HOG).

innuendo.

thanks, i hope i have them in stock when they call. I brought in twice as many of the new EDGE regs as I "thought" I would need for 4 months, I sold thru in less than 2... more are on the way however! I have a few of the EXP and a few less of the Epic left.

Maybe, just maybe, he's happy with ScubaPro? Does he HAVE to become a retailer for HOG in order to be a great LDS? Heck, I've dove with the man and he's alright by me.

You dove with the guy and you like him, I get that. However, you need to admit that he causes disharmony (for lack of a better word) in any equipment forum he posts. This is not the first time (or I suspect the last) you will come to his aid.

Whether you want to admit it or not he is biased against HOG/Edge. He is always quick to point out how short HOG has been in business and how long Scubapro was in business, then gives his sales pitch for Subgear and claims it is Scubapro which is false. According to the press release he himself posted, Subgear is a separate company owned by the parent company of Scubapro, Johnson Outdoors. It is true that the equipment Subgear sells is rebranded Scubapro, and the RG-1000 is an excellent regulator. It is also true that Scubapro can close down and liquidate Subgear whenever they want to which does add risk to purchasing Subgear. If Subgear discontinues operations will dive shops put Scubapro kits into Subgear regulators or will they say they can't due to liability reasons. This is not slander or libel but a potential concern. When I asked Beaver what happened to the old Seemann product line he didn't answer. His main complaint against HOG, lack of a track record, also affects Subgear.

I have nothing against Scubapro, in fact I own many of their regulators. I also do not work for HOG as Beaver claims some of us do.

You dove with the guy and you like him, I get that.
Well it's obvious that you haven't dove with him and you don't like him. He's simply not the demon you make him out to be. If you ever meet him, you'll feel the same way. It's like when Chris and I were at PADI headquarters last year. At the end of a fun, fun day as we were leaving, Chris stops me in the parking lot with a hand on my shoulder and this bemused look and says: "You know, once you get to know them, you just can't hate them! Eh?" Mind you, I've never hated them, so I found his statement patently funny. But the more I thought about it, the more I realize that he's right and just not about PADI. It's easy to hate someone you just don't know. Take the time to get to know them and your view point is likely to change.

Most of these squabbles are caused by people talking right past each other and trying to dominate the other in a discussion. We can all become quite partisan about our point of view and all too often we use tactics that would make even politicos blush. I think it's time to listen to Sgt Hulka and "Lighten up, Francis." Let's keep the discussions civil and avoid accusing each other of nefarious intent.

Doc I am not the only one he rubs the wrong way and this is not the first thread he caused trouble in. You know that as you have defended him in other threads. He is the one who mentions a fellow diver (you) having trouble with a HOG reg but neglects to mention you were testing a prototype and that the problem was minor.

You are correct I don't like the guy, I don't know him, and I haven't dove with him. But I do know one thing about him, he is very foolish. The way he presents himself on SB makes many people (myself included) dislike him. I am not inclined to purchase from him nor to dive with him. It is not very smart from a business standpoint to turn off potential customers in that manner. For your sake and his I hope he is a smarter under the water than on SB.

he is biased against HOG/Edge.
I had a new diver read this whole thread. He pointed out that the " trouble " started when I suggested that the Op get a Brand name reg.

Here on SCUBAboard, Chris has done an excellent job of making hog a brand name, however around the world what are the top Brand name regs.

Do you really believe hog is one of them, or edge?

I have been diving for almost 40 years and I had not seen or heard of hog or edge till I joined SB last Nov.

I do not have an opinion about hog or edge because I, personally, have never been diving with either one.

Yes I do have a biased towards Scubapro, that is the reason why I sell Scubapro as the top Brand name at Beaver Divers.
