Really???? I didn't know that! So this thread will go sailing off into the night with nobody at the helm... awaiting it's final hijacker... so sad ... :shocked2:

Nice to think people will want to continue it... maybe without the sticky with the rules tho.. they have fallen by the wayside ....:rofl3::rofl3:we aren't very good hijackers... really just too darn nice and polite :rofl3::rofl3:

Sas....where are you going to be in the States??

Most likely Oregon (Portland) and California (San Fran) to see some of my family and Salt Lake City, Utah to see Daniel's sister and husband. Then we are going to Ireland to see a whole bunch more of my family :)

The way I see it.. we all have our drawbacks... our water tem is better here than Melbourne but I think your viz is a bit better on average. Mind the work they are doing on extending Port Botany isn't helping neither is the work on the desalinization plant I suspect.

What is the average viz in Sydney? Ours would be 5-10m in most places (i.e. off boats) but the piers are more likely to be 3-6m. We have viz problems too at the moment because of the dredge  Have to time the dives at certain spots and based on certain tides so it doesn't get messy. How long will they be working on Port Botany? Think the dredging is due to stop in Melbourne before the end of the year - YAY

Of course we would want to continue it......and then we can make T-shirts too. :D

Sounds like a lot of fun and a very long vacation. Those are my favorite. Wow! You are going to pass through a lot of time zones.

If you feel like making a stop and diving the Great Lakes....we would be happy to hook you up. In our poop green water. :rofl3: Actually, Lake Huron has some fairly clear water.

hmm sounds like our average viz... blew that concept out of the water for me Sas! They are pouring in fill and dredging and so on.. I expect it will be going a while yet... didn't start all that long ago really... desal... the underwater part of it.. no idea. Thing is the Desal is happening near the heads entering Botany Bay and the Port is happening near the end nnear the airport... so incomming and out going are probably bringing the stuff to us at BI midway!

Well my dears I really should be off and get some stuff done before it is time to pick up the fish and take the bird to the vet... must be getting late for you there too tiggrr...

:hugs:

I'll check in later but my next few days are pretty full on... so will be scarce for a bit I am afraid

I had one month (Nov I think) where the viz was 10-20m at least for every dive! Was amazing. I think it is a seasonal thing. Viz has not been great for a while now as it's been summer. Over winter it is nicer and I got many 10m days. Though, it's hard to tell whether the viz is bad because of the season, the dredge or runoff! I have been writing down the tides and winds for each dive in my logbook now, so overtime perhaps I can estimate viz better :)

Hopefully fun :) It's more about catching up with family than holidaying so that can be quite busy rather than relaxing. If I get near the Great Lakes I will let you know! I am happy to dive anywhere so poo-green lakes are fine :)

Yea, I'm out too.

Nite Sas! Good to see ya here! :flowers:

Nite Petunia! Good luck with Ricci and hopefully will see you tomorrow! :flowers:
