I actually went this route, it cost me about $1000 (including an Inon Z-240 to replace a flooded D2000 and a few other accessories). I didn't get a lot of time in the water to fiddle with it it due to a Norte blowing through, but I'm pleased with my results.

I'm a rank amateur so it was nice to just worry about the camera settings (which i'm still trying to get a handle on) and not have to worry about the strobe.
