Help. Tomorrow, we leave for a dive trip and my wife's Cobalt computer is frozen. She recharged the computer. Then hit the back button and nothing happens. nothing changes with any button for that matter. The computer is about 1 1/2 years old, with about 100 dives. No problems until now. What are your suggestions. We live in Singapore. thanks...

I'm hoping someone from Atomic got back to you on this- I was away from SB for a while. You don't say if the computer was awake before charging, or was run down completely. If a Cobalt is completely dead, you must start charging it with the A/C adapter, not USB- USB won't provide a reset to start the program. This is covered in the FAQ section here: Atomic Aquatics Cobalt Dive Computer - Frequently Asked Questions

If you started charging with USB, the battery is no longer flat, so the A/C charger at that point won't reset either- the solution is to manually reset by unplugging and re-plugging the battery. I realize I'm a bit late with this, but PM me if you want more instructions or suggestions.

Hi Ron

it seems that the computer does not respond to the touch keys. If computer hangs up on "ready to dive" mode, if we charge the computer and press on the keys say three or four times, we can move to a different page. Or if we set the EAN mix, but hangs on that mode, we might open the tank valve for gas pressure and the computer repsonds. Its quite random.

My wife will take the computer back to the USA (Seattle) and bring it back to the shop, on ~August 16th. She will depart Seattle after two weeks. Do you thing that Atomic could repair the computer within that time frame. After getting back to Singapore we will leave for Komodo Island for ten days, it would be nice to have a reliable computer at that time. In general, service in the USA is better than Singapore. PM is with suggestions. Charlie and Joanne

Charlie,

I'm wondering if possibly you have a Cobalt with the corroded keypad problem, and it is as simple as the buttons not working consistently. Does it wake from sleep if you put it in water? Does it seem to work properly in a dive other than not responding to button presses? Changing the keypad out is very simple. I'll PM you with some more information.

Yes, Atomic can absolutely fix any problems within the time frame you need, and we (the developers) are in Seattle, so one way or another we will get it taken care of. I'll PM you with more information.

Hi all. I want to thank Ken at Underwater Sports and Ron at Ocean Concepts for a timely and fast repair on my wife's Cobalt computer. Great service and attitude!
