My brother has decided to sell almost all of his dive gear. I think hes keeping his fins and mask, but his regulators and guages, BCD, and tank hes selling.

I was thinking of picking up his regs since I don't have any and this would make a good first starter one until I found what I liked and bought my own.

For his regulators hes asking 270.00. They probably only have about 15 dives on them. He won the regulator and the dive computer from a raffle and he got the octo from ebay new(i think). I know the battery in the computer needs to be replaced and that they are in working order since he used them 2 months ago.

main regulator - sea quest mirage
octopus - Dacor Viper tec (trim efficiency control)
computer/gauges - Suunto Favor

What do you guys think? Reasonable or high...?

Also here is the rest of the stuff he was selling in case you were wondering. Along with his asking price...

tank 80 alum $70

BCD L-XL TUSA imprex $100

Too much for the regs IMO. For near $300 you can get a new set of entry level regs that aren't discontinued or from companies that are no longer in business. I would think you could find a more modern used set for a similar price with a little shopping around. The regs being so old service parts may be hard to find and there may be an issue finding a store that will even service the Dacor. Most regs need a service within 12-24 months of a dive.

The tank is probably out of hydro which means another $30 or so. New ones can be found for $150 and used ones in hydro drop for $100 on the high end around here. Some older AL80s are junk due to issues with build quality.

The BC might be an OK deal depending on which model. Tusa is a pretty good BC by most measure.

I would look at name brand regulators (aqua lung, scubapro, apex, oceanic, atomic, etc).
You want a brand that can be serviced easily.

Sea Quest is either made by or distributed by Aqualung. Nothing wrong with the brand.

Getting them serviced should be easy.

$270 for a barely used full set with computer isn't bad. One thing to check would be how old are they and have they been serviced or are they due.

The price on the tank is ok provided it's in VIP and the BC is pretty good.

200 to 250 for everything....assuming that the tank is post 1989 and in hydro.

The Mirage is an unbalanced reg and old probably bought around 03. The Dacor octo is no longer made and the company is out of business. They can be serviced still but not just any shop is going to be able to do it most likley. The computer might be worth a few bucks but the rest I would just walk away from.

Someone just sold a Micron and octo for $245, Titan and Octo went recently for $135 on here. Hang around and a good deal will pop up.

Fishpie's offer is what I would expect to be more reasonable and even then I would probably still pass.

I thought the price seemed high. The regs need to be serviced since he only used them a handful of times he never bothered to get them serviced.

Tank was bought somewhere in the mid 90's doesn't need a hydro(1 year left, I THINK), but does need to get a visual. Its in good condition, oh well.

He can ebay the stuff lol

The BCD...I'm not sure in the condition of it. I don't remember if he got it used or not. oh well thanks guys for the info
