PM me if you have any ideas for the best way to go for the training, if I'm just looking to go through school/training as an enrichment experience and not to pursue a serious career. I'd make a poor mechanic. I'm better at smiling and profiling. :D

I don't know where these guys are located, but they might fit the bill.

I am a big kirby morgan fan I use the EXO-26br for a lot of my work, great for light commercial work. I also have a KM47 hat I love it one of the best on the market. I like the 17 had one for some years got it passed down to me It was one of the old 17a's. I had an AGA mask but was so expensive to have serviced I had to sell.

On my AOW training, I think it was the navigation portion of the course, I used an Ocean Reef full face mask.

I have tried a couple of Kirby Morgan helmet's on, but haven't got to dive with one, but will get to try one this spring. We certified a commercial divers son this fall and his father is going to bring a couple of helmets, comm's, the whole deal to the instructors pool for us to try. Looking forward to it.

KM 17A
KM 27
KMB 18
Omega full face
Genesis
Desco

By far the one helmet I liked the most was the Genesis.
Lately most of my work time has been in a KM 27

You mention the Savioe rat hat, Joe Savoie lived a few miles from me. He was probably the first one to make a lightweight helmet. Here is some history about him.

Joe Savoie

Joe Savoie's work was especially impressive in that his background was not in metalworking or manufacturing. He was doing stuff with backyard-made equipment that made some manufacturing engineers shake their heads. His craftsmanship was impeccable.

Thats the one hat I haven't tried. What did you like about it more than the SL series? Also, how did it breath and how did it dive?

Cheers.
