So.. we’re being grifted?
@HotDive(Hide In Ocean) any clarification on the CE compliance?

I don’t mind the lack of cert if I’m inspecting or testing a „sample“ — I already do that with other equipment and tools and don’t mind the cost of „exploration“, I own a 100 other trusty (and certified) regs to dive with alread

By the time that free sample gets to you, it is already so exhausted from how many times it has exchanged hands getting to you, it is going to be considered used equipment.

I got no argument against that, but to be fair most of my regs are used anyways— how else can I afford all that crap 😂

I prefer my Chinese crap to be branded Scubapro. Otherwise what's the point?

I’m sensing that ethics are regarded as optional and that intellectual property theft is a culturally acceptable business practice.

HotDive is really driving the wave of innovation in the dive industry.

And listen to these expert divers with their professional reviews:

By way of example on just how deceitful China is playing you.
At random I have taken these two nondescript items in the video above posted by nothing clever
in his post 98 and in order not to offend any remaining fanboys

At first glance the "Anti Drowning Bracelet" looks legit and its even got its own YouTube account they claimed it was CE certified on the Hotdive website (since removed)

However if you take a much deeper look into the hot dive website and with the help of some modern western facility tooling you will find on their server the original CE certificate from CONA
I enclosed below the copy taken off the Hotdive server to outline the level of deception.

1. Note first that the certificate states it is certified to EN15649-1 this is the first piece of deception.
This European Standard specifies safety requirements and test methods related to materials, safety, performance for classified floating leisure articles for use on and in water in accordance with Clause 4

2. The standard was introduced on 11th November 2009 and withdrawn on 11th January 2012

3. Note carefully the certificate is dated 16th June 2016 some four years after the standard had been already discontinued.

It gets worse.

The second level of deception is with the certifying agency itself.
Cona Authentication Testing Limited

The company at the point of issuing this fraudulent certificate had already been dissolved as a company.

The certificate shown below was published on the Hotdive web site then removed but had been signed on June 16th 2016

However the company had already ceased to exist on 29th March 2016 some three months earlier.

Go figure it still gets worse.

Then we have the signature of the elusive Mr Ren Ruming
and the Tino pan e & e section manager sign off

This is in fact Mr Ming Yen Ruming of Room 501, Unit 3, Bldg. 31 Wangjiang Dongyuan, Shangcheng District, Hang Zhou, China, 310000 Who had his company closed on 29th March 2016 by the UK government by compulsory strike off

Just take a look at the number of Chinese companies that share the same business address and our elusive Mr Ming Yen

CHASE BUSINESS CENTRE, 39-41 CHASE SIDE, LONDON, N14 5BP

I just hope he has caught up with what year we are all living in

LOL, that's why I buy Scubapro, Atomic, and Zeagle.
