Is Madison Aquatic Park no longer open?

Madison Aquatic Park, operated by Rock Divers, Inc, closed in fall of 2005 due to financial mis-management.

Bottomdewller2, it's located in Madison Alabama, right before you get to Huntsville, right off I-565. (You can see their buildings from the interstate it's so close).

Last year, the quarry was re-opened on a limited basis on a lease from the city for dive training purposes to local shops and instructors.. Now... remember "we are always training...." (so anyone could dive there, even if it's for a "refresher"). Last year they were open about 2 weekends per month

This year, due to local city government red tape and other stupid stuff, it's been late opening. But they just signed the paperwork to open it this past Monday and are currently arranging "training weekends". Hopefully they'll be able to do at least 2 weekends a month this year also. The first weekend is expected to be the weekend of Aug 11th/12th and the fee should the same, around $20 bucks a day.

All of this is tentative and they are working the final details. But hopefully we'll be diving there soon.

as for the flying machines, the Minuteman Missile, the F-4 fighter, and all the NASA toys are still there.

More to come, most likely in a new thread, as it all gets official.

It could also be a bank/finance delay instead of the city/county.

They always say it's permit/city or county related. BUt you may be right.

If they have it open August 11th and 12th I might come by there and dive.

Keep us posted Mike.

Madison is a little bit warmer than ABWA too

Madison has always been warmer, but it's not as deep either.

But due to the water level being down last year, and that nice huge north rock wall that catches the southern sun, it was even warmer last year.

Bottom temps starting in about july/august on the bottom there last year got up to 86f. that's almost unheard of in a quarry around here.

Man, Thats more like a hot tub then a quarry.
