RonzoTheGreat,WELCOME TO SCUBA BOARD!
is there anything you want to discuss that we may be able to assist you with continuing diving? (or is it moot at this point)
i am not a fan of sherwood and so am not familiar with values of their gear but hopefully another member here can chime in and assist you.
you are getting some good advice in splitting up your items. unfortunately no one "getting into scuba" comes here looking for their kit, its more or less what happened to you where they purchased locally and are trying to get some $ back through this site ...
also, i would seriously consider hanging on to the booties, fins, mask, and snorkel as they can still make a terrific snorkeling kit for future vacations.
best wishes
are you certain that you experienced sinus head aches and not co2 headaches? i have gone through a similar ordeal and found when i focused on my breathing and used higher mixes (nitrox mixes closer to 30% for example, it was far and few between ... just a thought ... perhaps you can salvage diving if its a breathing issue?
I don't know really what it was but is was definitely the worst pain of my life, and i have broken a few bones before. I also had like a tunnel vision for about 3 hours. I have never experienced anything like it. All the other guys I went with were fine. Every time Ive been out I have gotten a bad headache but this last time was enough to make me quit for a while.
Ronzo brings up a good point. CO2 headaches can be quite miserable. Do you have any other indications that it may have been sinus related? Runny nose, crackling/popping in your ears from fluid, etc? How long did it take for the symptoms to go away? Did you try any medicine for it and was it effective? Did the headaches start before you surfaced, immediately on surfacing, or shortly after?
The more information you can give, the more helpful we can be in giving good responses. If it's truly sinus, your options may be limited, but if it's CO2, that can be managed pretty easily with a little experience.
