A few of us are going to dive the Hammond Marina Beach on August 29th. The Hammond Marina is right next to the Horseshoe Casino and it has a nice public beach to dive from. There is a wreck about 75 feet off the beach and a nice break wall to dive. Its a good dive and the best part, FREE. No parking fee, no entry fee, semi decent bathrooms, and two wheeled bins to carry your gear to the beach. Besides viz for miles, what more could you ask for.

We will do a little BBQ for lunch and get a few dives in for the day. So if you are interested in diving with us, post here in the thread or send me a PM.

Currently the plan is to meet at the Marina at about 9:30-10:00 am on the 29th. Get geared up and in the water about 30-45 minutes after arrival. :shocked2:

Oh this is what I hear about the Hammond Marina. I'd like to go with a definite "maybe".

I just sent you a FB invite. I thought I did originally but I don't know what I was thinking and apparently I forgot. Glad you found the thread and I hope you can make it out there.

i think that the wife and i are in for this one....just let me know times and places....hopefully the seals on my drysuit haven't dried up from inactivity...need to get the equipement wet again...it's been a few weeks.

We can meet on the cement pier/breakwall between the boat docks and the beach. There are lots of Gray gear hand carts by the admin building for public use. The address for the admin building is 701 Casino Center Dr, Hammond IN.

When you drive over the bridge, you will get to a guard shack. Stay to the left of the shack and give them your name. Park where you can and follow the fenceline to the next parking lot near the admin building. The beach, docks, and hand carts are north of the parking lot.

I plan on being there between 9:30 and 10 am. I can car pool with anyone who is close to I80 between Joliet and the Indiana border. PM me if you are interested.

See you guys on Saturday.

I'll be diving Friday night at Haigh but would love to do this too. Anyone know if a shop is open early enough on Saturday to fill my tanks?

I can bring my one spare AL 80 if you want to use it. I think it is full (I will make sure it is before I go) if you want it.

I dont know if there is a shop that will open earlier than we will be there. But you can always head over after you get them filled. We plan on being at the beach for most of the day.

yeah right now i am picking tanks up friday and will be there 9:30 or so on saturday morning....anyone know about what the temps are there in lake michigan.....

Water temps should be between 65 and 70 for the beach since the dives are shallow. No more than 25 feet. Hopeful this rain we have had doesn't ruin the viz all that much.
