I buy diving magazinse to read about diving - there are plenty of other magazines that showcase scantily clad women that you could buy too see them. But if they do I won’t care as long as they cover what the magazine is about.

Two cents.

ah, but if you bought the dive mag, then you wouldn't need to get the other one, so you would be saving money for fills

..mama raised me too well back in St. Louis. Maybe that's why I'm offended by smut like Divers Magazine?

ROFL ..... raviepoo, why get so worked up over a mag, (it is designed to get the men worked up) plus they have put a juicey worm on the hook and you well and truely took it.

the mag may be smut, never seen it, but i have been none to flick through Maxim and FHM here in the UK (far far better than the US versions, seen them and wasn't impressed with the content  ), but there is a thing called freedom of choice, you can choose to look or not.

simply answer the question that started the thread: Should pictures of women in bikinis be in Scuba Diving magazines?

Seems to me what Raviepoo did was asnwer the question.

If you don't like her opinion, well, "there is a thing called freedom of choice, you can choose to (read) or not."

If that doesn't work for ya, well, there is also a thing called freedom of speech.

a television show or a bulletin board post?

Nearly everyone does some of the time. Some people get worked up over sexism and/or pornography, some at violence, politics, war, religion or money. Some people get worked up when one of their so-called jokes gets yanked from the humour forum. But it doesn't really matter, the point is nearly everyone gets worked up.

So why do some people -- who occasionally get worked up themselves -- seem to feel as if they are so superior they can dismiss another person's issues? But when someone tries to dismiss -- or disappear -- theirs......

i voted yes, but it doesn't bother me either way, if it is a good dive mag then fare enough, if it has fit looking women in a bikini that is nice and slim with big boobs barely able to stay in the bikini (mmmmm boobs) then its a bonus. :D

divemistress, you can put your toys back in your pram now you've thrown them out

Rodales and Immersed do not feature half nude girls hiding their nipples with their arms and gazing into the camera with a "come do me now (giggle)" expression on their faces. There is a BIG difference between a bikini-clad girl with a mask snorkel and fins swimming through the water and a photo of a thong-clad womman's buttocks with the word "Divers" written across her cheeks and the caption "Spread the Word."

One photo says "I'm cute! Come share my fun! (Oh! and buy this nice mask while you're at it.)"

The other says, "I'm a thing! Use me!"

Divers Mag has crossed the line into poor taste. The photo's that Divers Mag has chosen to run are offensive and have no place in a magazine about a sport that includes children as young as 10 among it's participants.

Divers Mag has obviously selected a very specific target demographic and it does not include me. It's a shame, because I spend a lot of money on diving, gear and travel. And I will not be funneling any additional money to advertisers who continue to buy space in Divers.

how did the fit the "spread the word" on the back of a thong?

must have been small print and a zoom lens

I am completely disgusted at the display of "half" naked women on the covers of, and inside, Dive Magazines. I have been told for as long as I can remember, that if you are going to do a job, do it right. To that end, half a job done is as good as no job done at all, and in the same light, half naked would then fall into that catagory of only doing half the job.

Think of the children, what kind of example are we setting by letting shoddy work be published in the first place.

I say if you are going to do a job, do it right. Comletely naked or not naked at all!

I vote for completing the job started.:)

in my opinion, at least.

completely naked is honest: hey, this magazine is about sex!

half-naked with "do me" looks is dishonest: this magazine is about, um, diving, yah, right, diving!

yah, right.....

:)
