I saw a women in a 2 piece have the bottoms come off when she took her wetsuit off once.

For that reason I recommend either one piece with straps that prevent that or wear a skin if your using 2 piece swim suit

I'd like to vouch for Lavacore.

The past few years I have gained weight, become buoyant and had difficulty with stuff fitting me. Particularly the part about buoyancy and I hate wearing a lot of extra weight around my waist just to descend.

I got a Lavacore full body suit but they do make seperate tops and bottoms and even hoods which would be useful for those with long hair. It's thinner than the neoprene it replaces but somewhat more expensive.
