The version with the red inflator is several years old.

Hoosier I think thats great that you know what colors they come in but we are trying to determine which one has the recall.

Forget the recall ... Halcyon has given up even attempting to support this product. I posted some nice pictures of the one I just took off my Evolve a week or so back on The Deco Stop ... it's a real mess. Had maybe 30 dives on it. The response from Halcyon was for me to download their service manual, purchase an o-ring kit, take it apart, and fix it myself ... in other words, it's not their problem.

I own three Halcyon wings (two Eclipese and an Evolve) ... honestly, they're very nice wings. And in fact, the manual is very well-written and the instructions relatively easy to follow. But I'd really prefer doing business with a company that stands behind their product ... and to my concern, this particular product should be taken out of service before it kills somebody. It's the Ford Pinto of scuba equipment.

The pic in your profile shows you wearing a dive rite??

care to explain?lol

I have a post recall inflator that has also failed like the original recalled inflators. Took it apart and found it very corroded. I always rinse it after diving in fresh water as well. Cleaned it up using toothpaste and qtips. It took a very long time to remove all the corrosion. I reassembled it and it worked for about 30 dives and now intermittently is leaking again. My guess is it's corroded again. I have sent a message to Halcyon concerning this and I am waiting for a reply.

The best way to describe the SS inflators is dangerous. I hope Halcyon replaces it at no cost as they seem to be well below the industry standard in reliability.

I don't blame him for using a dive-rite... wouldn't you if your inflator was giving you problems after only 30 dives...:eyebrow:

I have the same sentiments for the SS inflator as well. I hate to say it but that thing wasn't tested well on marine environment before they decided to sell it. I clean mine about every after 5 dives in marine environment and have decided to just throw away the darn thing and just replace with a plastic one. Those freshwater cave boys who manufacture this should just forget about this inflator. I wonder what real benefit it gives over the plastic ones

No--I would replace the inflator.

Sure, I know what color inflator comes with your new shiny Eclipse....;)

I don't think it is a big concern to know which one is recalled rather than which one is new design at this moment.

BTW, the nickel-plated inflator is additional option. I believe that it is $39....... Halcyon is still arguing that the corrosion is due to poor maintenance though...:D

As I recall, Bob (active instructor) has many BCs..... DR is just one of those......

I think all halcyon wings now come with a non-serviceable plastic inflator and the SS/nickel one comes as an option.
