I headed down to Gunrock beach (In Hull) yesterday to weight myself with some new gear. Parking was $7 ($5 before 11am for divers) and our spot was very close to the stairs. We decided to hit the backside (ocean side) of the jetty, as the vis on the front side had been poor on several earlier visits this season. On the backside, the vis was a crisp 10-15' which made for a nice dive. There is a TON of lobster gear in this area, although it seems fished out - I only saw shorts and some HUGE eggers. The water was a toasty 60deg. at 25'

where did you pay to park? I wasnt aware of a parking lot over there and thought most of the spots on the street are resident only

At Kelly's (right accross from the beach) they allow you to pay-to-park.

Ah yes but was the Mayor out there to greet you on the beach when you come out of the water? Sounds like nothing has changed in the last few weeks. I'm not sure about fished out but the traps were empty when I was last out there and there were no bugs worth taking a second look at.

Nah, some kid was collecting. The fact that parking is OK after 5pm makes this a nice evening spot. Even when I have to pay to park it's worth it over the hike the NS (espically with gas prices) if it's high tide.

Not the best bug spot - but lots and lots of keeper size flounder.

where are the flounder there? are they right near the jetty or off around to the right? I have only seen a few but folks have mentioned it a godo flounder spot in the past to me.

I've seen them pretty much everywhere. Right on the inside of the jetty (beach side) is a good spot - but you'll see some on the backside as well.

I caught high tide at Gunney today again. Viz was poor (5'), but we ran into a few bugs. The temp at 25' was 65degrees! I felt pretty stupid with my 400gram DSunderwear, while my buddy was warm the whole dive with a shorty.

Warm at 65 with a shorty. In most scuba books at 65 they recommend a full dry suit with thick under garments. Only in NE is 65 considered down right sweltering.
