I'm wondering how long I'll get to keep it.
I like it...Its a part of my 15 mins

Cards are a direct measure of your worth as a diver. The more you have the better diver you are.

Similarly, you want to have a lot of "Type R" and "V-Tek" stickers on your car to make it go faster...

the whole GUE vs. TDI can be summed of with the following statement:

Nothing in life is free, sometimes you need to PAY attention

What was that? Did you say something?

Mine says its ready for an oil change

Mine says at 4 ATA, I have no friends.

I think it's a depth around 1 ATA myself.

Some are and some are not. If you wish to continue with GUE education, then this C card is very important.

Now are far as GUE vs TDI goes (after you get past fundi's)

GUE - Teaches knowledge and a specific system.
TDI - Grab bag results. Knowledge for sure, but anything else would be brought in by the teacher and I'm sure you could get everything from East-Coast Wreck diver "Strokeyness" to full blown DIR (Note the "Strokeyness is not meant to be a judgment call, just trying to describe a system that is totally opposite to DIR....Solo diving, 80%, Left Lean - right rich, etc etc)

GUE is more than just skills and because it is consistent between all the teachers it pretty much is "What you see is what you get". (Note 2: But this also means you need to buy into the system, otherwise you probably wont get what you want out of it)

TDI is much harder to put your finger on "What" it is because each teacher can be a bit different. Which also means the student has to do more research to be able to make a decision.

I received my Trimix training from Divetek Adventures in Kona HI, a TDI Facility that promotes itself as "DIR Compliant" (new buzzword?) . . .while probably not as rigorous or stressful as a full-blown GUE Tech Class, nevertheless I was impressed by their meticulous preparation, instruction and demonstration of the DIR Philosophy. FWIW, another such TDI Facility has opened up on Oahu and is currently offering Fundies Classes: http://www.hawaiitechnicaldivers.com/. . .
