......and feel no need to self-identify through an organization and "own" any of its history.
Could have fooled me..LOL.

This might be the best DIR thread yet with rape, nazi's, murder and who knows what else thrown in. It does have me wondering however.. what DO, YOU PEOPLE do with that long hose anyway?

And fanning the flames with a reply like that helps how?
To be honest I was a bit pessimisting regarding your chances to get a reasonable response. That being said, I apologize.

Could have fooled me..LOL.
Dammit. I felt I was that close...

Well, I guess the discussion went against any standard of any possible interpretation of DIR I can imagine.

Using it for penetration, of course... What else?

Can’t we all get allow fellow divers?

Long hose or shorter hose

Primary donate or secondary donate

Ok I’ll get my coat on the way out …

@mariosx, it is too bad you are so young. You'd have fit right in back in the GUE beginning, and today people would be talking about what a bad influence you were back then and how impossible it was to engage in a useful dialogue with you without being insulted. Your way or the highway...you were right and the rest of the world was wrong. Yep, good thing you are so young and thus not part of that awful beginning.

@mariosx I have a question for you. Would you dive with me as a buddy in open water if my gear set up was different than yours and I haven't bought into the GUE philosophy?

You guys communicate only with catch phrases that cannot be supported by any problematic quote of mine? IS your PTSD from the 90's so crippling for your communication and processing skills?

I have insulted (potentially) only people that believe that's is justified and reasonable to insult new divers who just want to have fun and enjoy the sport, because some other divers that share nothing in common were similarly toxic in the past. If you believe that you belong in this group I recommend therapy (not an insult, but an actual solution).

Are you quoting anything from a movie/song/poem? Easily the most unrelated sentence I read yet. Could you support this claim on any specific quote of mine, or you just feel offended for not praising a toxic minority of divers that harass other members of the community? Because I made NO claim regarding superiority of GUE against other ways of diving. It seems this corner of the forum is full of "mind-reading" and telepathy practitioners.

P/S: It is truly amazing the rationalization people make in this thread just to defend their "right" to behave like as**oles to new members of the scuba community.

It is equally amazing how new members of the scuba community feel like they have the right to act like as**oles. Welcome to the community, you'll fit right in.

Ridiculous question, that shows the gap between the perception of GUE and the reality. And I don't want to blame you, just to emphasize the damage this toxic community does to a fun sport as scuba.

To answer seriously, if I believe that you are a safe diver, or you are a friend of mine that don't mind babysit 100% yes. Heck, 3 days ago I got my first training on drysuit from PADI. I occationaly dive with non GUE buddies often very capable (more than me at least), or just plain newbies with single digit dives.

The true question is whether I would enjoyed it as much (assuming you are not a close friend) and the answer is most probably not, because I will have to think regarding the procedures I need to adjust due to difference in the setups. But it's just about that.

As**ole for finding problematic the constant harassment in the community? Yeah... I guess I won't be able to fit in "your" scuba community thankfully.
