Larry,
Coincidentally, I talked to John in your shop yesterday about the same thing. I am leaning towards the V16 Proton Metal. Do you carry the Proton Octo? If so what is the cost? What would your opinion be of the V16 Proton XL. Do you carry the XL? Thanks for all the help.

They have come up with a billion different names and versions of the proton.. The XL was when they first came out with a V32 and Proton together, and put a little blue rhinestone in the middle of the purge button. May come as a big surprise, but the rhinestone does not affect how it performs.

The MR12 first stage is a flat poppet seat, while the 16 and 32 are the spherical seats. The spherical seat only requires a service every 2 years instead of every year. Also because of a redisigned purge cover, the metal versions are easier to push the purge. (maybe because the rhinestone is not in the way  )

Randy, I noticed you are in NAshville. My compnay is building a project in Mashville. Any spots to dive? I'm in town once or twice a month. Maybe I could bring my gear along one trip and squeeze in some diving.

Martha's Quarry ( www.marthasquarry.com ) is the best spot close to Nashville. It's about 15 miles outside of Nashville. We do some of our training out there. Cost is $20/day.

Percy Priest Reservoir and Old Hickory Lake are closer, but vis is better in pure mud than those 2 places.

Randy

I have a V16 Orbiter with a Proton AAS attached to it.

Sorry for jumpin into this thread... but what is an AAS?

Not only that, but why is there no mention of the Orbiter in the Mares catalog or on the website. How does it compare to the Proton Metal, assuming both have the V16 first stage?
