greetings all from DC. tried scuba once at 14, but it never took. was recently in Key Largo and thought I'd give it another shot. It totally blew my mind, and now I'm totally hooked. already planning the next adventure. anyone care to recommend Bahamas or Honduras this time of year?

thanks.

hey there, fellow Mid-Atlanic-er, Welcome from the other beltway....

i havent been diving in any of those places, but i can reccomend another good spot in Key Largo if so you desire.

thanks, guys. hey baltimoron, I agree with you. the Keys were awesome. I did some snorkeling as well down at Big Pine and there were some huge fish on the reefs. you ever been diving off the coast up here?

Welcome aboard!
Ive never been to Hondorus, but this is a great time to visit the Bahamas (if the tropical storms cooperate).
For the next couple of months it starts to cool off a bit, but the water is still plenty warm there.
Have fun!

Welcome Aboard!!!

It's addictive, but who cares?!?!?

Good friends and good info. What could be better???

P.S. - If you have not already done so, please fill out your profile.

We are glad to have ya. I can't give any advice on those, but search the board.

I havent been diving in Key Largo yet (give it another two weeks) but inever needed to. i have been snorkeling there every passover since i moved to the states in 1999. the viz was always great, shallow (once snorkeling, i went down the 25 feet to the bottom and scared the s**t out of one of the divers... :eyebrow: hahaha), and LOTS of curious barricuda!!!! I have been to Pennekamp most, but also some other places which i dont remember the names.

OC diving is a gamble. sometimes the viz is horrible, sometimes you can see down 40 feet. it depends on the day you go. i wouldnt reccomend going without a dry suit though, even though it might be 85 degrees, and you will be sweating until you get past the thermocline, it really gets coollllld. my instructor pulled out a video tape of him and some people on fenwick shoals diving with hammerheads!!! so it really is a gamble.

Welcome to the board. I guess you found out our secret...We are all hooked on SCUBA.
