I just finished taking the hard top & doors off my Jeep... it better be nice & dry out tomorrow... Look for the dark blue Jeep w/o a top or doors... I'll be there @ 11AM or a little before... (I may get to Cape Ann on the early side & drive around to check out a couple of beaches...)

How about a dive report? Bugs sighted/tanken?

Reefseal, remind me to get you those directions to long pond next time you are in the area (if you still need them).

PK, I'm going to NEA this thursday with my friend who worked there for a couple of years, I'm very intested in checking out some of the displays.

Hope ya'll had a fun, safe dive.

Yeah, we went to Old Garden Beach today. It was great (except the deep seaweed we had to walk through). Visability was pretty good and the weather was very nice.

Beaker, Reefseal and Tom joined this dive (I don't remember Tom's username).

My first dive was more of a solo snuba because I had some equipment issues and I didn't want to delay the divers. I fixed my equipment issue and continued as an equipment check-out dive.

My second dive was at only 15' depth but the water was a balmy 48F which was fine.

What I saw: lots of crabs, skate, snails. On a dive I didn't join, the other guys saw some lobsters and bass, I think.

Visability: about 15 feet.

Highlights:

1. Beakers herculean move when he bent over and flipped his bc/tank over his head, through his arms, stood up straight, and strapped it on. Amazing how he made it look easy. He deserved an applause.

2. Reefseal's impressive scuba and buddy skills. No kidding, he really is a good diver. Another for me is when he said that my gloves and fins look so tiny that they must be children's size. His wife must not dive and he probably hasn't dove with women much, but I'll take the compliment anyway (but I think my size if pretty normal for women).

3. Tom finding my dive flag. I thought I was going to have to buy another flag at a gouged price again. As we almost reached shore, a wave yanked the flag off the pole. Soon after, many more waves attacked it and punched it down into seaweed 2' deep. Beaker, Tom, and I looked for this doomed flag for just a little while before I decided I spent enough time face down in the seaweed. Later Beaker also gave up. Then Tom kept looking for quite a while and he finally found it! Like a bloodhound! I couldn't thank him enough.

I'll be volunteering at the aquarium Thursday also. I'll probably be behind the scenes all day but I hope you guys check out one the GOT feedings. Here are the feeding times:

10am*
11:15am
2:30pm
3:30pm

The 10am feeding is the most interesting. The fish are pretty hungry so the aquarists feed the majority of fish at that time (I think everyone gets fed). Two divers go down and usually two volunteers feed from the platforms, so there's a lot to see.

Yesterday, there was still residual surge from weekend. The sun was shinning and I had to get wet. I wasn't able to dive the rest of week. Whoever gets to go out today will be in for a treat as condititions should be much better. (west winds) Still getting sea weed out of those hard to reach spots.

Yes, definately interested in directions to Long Pond for next time down at Cape. It always turns out to be windy/stormy the time I'm down there and looking for alternatives to ocean.

I have an old set of fins (Scubapro Jet Fins) size large and it just blew me away how small a womens small fins were.

Mrs. Reefseal does dive though she does not share the same enthusiasm on the sport as I do when it comes to cold water diving in New England. However, if it's warm tropical locale, her attitude changes. Golfer's spouses refer to weekend golfers as "golf widows". I guess the same can be said about enthusiastic divers that just have to get in when can.

The only thing that sucked was conf. call in middle of day. It must have looked wierd seeing someone in full wetsuit with cell phone, and notepad..

Still had great time. Saw lots of skate, flounder and I did see one legal size lobster as was racing back to make my conf. call.

We just got in from a perfect day at Back/Front Beach. The water was like glass and the vis was about 30 or so feet. My coldest temp recorded was 47°. It felt great as the beach was warm with no wind at all. I only saw one regulation lobster and didn't even bother bagging it. Lots of flounder too. I'm hoping to get back out Sunday......

Water was a nice 46 degrees over at Pebble today, with 15-30' of vis. 1-2 ft chop, and I think we made the mistake of not using the easier entry at the middle with some sand and eaiser walking conditions. I think we got two bugs, and came across two nice females, one with eggs, one notched, both that we sighed and let go. My buddy made a comment afterwards that the females know that they'll be released, and don't fight as much... I don't know how true that is.

The only downside of today was discovering Cape Ann Divers is closed Tuesdays, and I needed air this morning.. . A trekking to Beverly we went.
