Until it reflects either "normoxic trimix to 21% O2" or else "advanced trimix to XXX ft" those will just be banners of a sort to add to your card collection.

Well, we all have to start somewhere

Cool, I did one of the first 4 day courses, before the nitrox test was out, so I only got the standard "skill refinement" endorsement, even though I did it in doubles with a light. The Tech 1 card that I just got yesterday says "Doubles, Deco 50% or 100%, Trimix 21/35, 18/45, limit 160ft." No mention of 30/30 though?

I can't see you having any problems getting a 32% fill with a GUE-F card.

Mine reads : "Trained in skill refinement, doubles, primary light, and 32% Nitrox."

Well technically I was trained in doubles and a primary light also :eyebrow:

It's kind of a weird distinction between a tec pass and rec pass.

Sounds like you only got a "rec" endorsement. If you did all the skills required in doubles and primary light for the "tech" pass, I would speak to your instructor about getting your card updated, as you will need that if you ever decided to continue on to Tech 1 or Cave 1.

Sorry, I was making reference to how vague the difference between tec pass and rec pass is on the card.

Even though I was in doubles and a diving with a primary I earned a rec pass. :D

The (new?) standards is that you have to score atleast 4 out of a range of 1 through 5 in all areas while diving with a tec setup.

I think I had more 3.x then I did 4.x. (Steve scored in fractions to give you an idea where you were on the scale) Plus a 2.x something on my bag shoot which we dont need to talk about

Indeed. And as such your EAN 32 certification from GUE carries with it a tangible benefit. Congratulations on that!

Subsequently would then be deco certification for access to EAN 50 and for 100% O2.

Then normoxic trimix to 21%O2. This type of training and certification normally entitles you to TMX 30/30 as well.

Then advanced trimix for O2 less than 21%.

Those are the certifications with tangible benefits associated, such that a store owner or their management is covered by insurance when they dispense these gasses to you.

GUE's methodology for these certifications is unique to GUE, of course.

Actually next would be going back for the "tec" endorsement and then Tech 1.

Sloth I posted it above re:Tech 1 card

So you did.....reading comprehension for the win:dork2:

As far as on the tec evaluation I've done so many practice dive post fundies I think I could nail it. Though the problem with being on Hawaii is trying to get that evaluation.

I am thinking about possible going to Zero Gravity with some buddies, of which some are doing Cave 2 and others are doing Cave 1, and see about getting a tec evaluation there and then maybe do some cavern tour dives or ocean dives while they do their classes.

Optionally, it might be possible to squeeze into a Cave 1 class if Chris fills that I am up to snuff. I am not really planning on this being an eventuality though.
