Just want to share a good experience with a LDS.

I wanted to get my Mares MR22 rebuilt but the LDS that I purchased it from was closed for vacation for a month and the several shops that I contacted in the northern RI & southern MA area couldn't help me.

Luckily, I discovered that Epicenter Scuba, in Warwick, RI services Mares regs. I dropped it off on a Tuesday and received a call Thursday afternoon to let me know that it was all set. I picked it up Saturday. Red, the NEW owner of the shop, hooked it up to a cylinder for me to double check that it worked OK and sent me on my way with his "guarantee" that if there is a problem to "please bring it back". Please, I'm not implying that the OLD owners were anything but good. In fact BJ always treated me and my friends very well also. I just recently found out that Red is the new owner. Anyway, for VERY reasonable money my reg functions and looks like new, and I have ALL the used parts to show what was replaced.

One would think that that's the way a LDS should serve it's customers. After dealing with many shops over the last 20 years I can tell you that they are not all like that - not nearly. It's refreshing to deal with an establishment that knows the value of good customer service.

I hope everyone has the same experience that I had.

Neat, I didn't know Red bought the shop but it sounds like good news to me.

I don't know him that well but I have had several conversations with him when I have run into him at local dive sites. He seems like a really friendly and good natured guy.

wow

a good dive shop in RI....if this is true, that will be ONE!
HAHA i must check this out

Hi,

Do you have the address? Will be nice to visit red on his new diving environment!

The Shop:

Epicenter Scuba
1935 Warwick Avenue
Warwick, Rhode Island 02889
phone: 401.732.8808 · fax: 401.732.8848

Or on the web:
http://www.epicenterscuba.com/

I think his hours at this time are M-F, 3-6pm,
and Saturday, 11am - 6pm

I would call before heading down there. The shop is in the process of changing owners so the hours of operation may change.

I think the dude's trying to provide what customers need and want. I don't think we (the diving consumer) should have to put up with shops the treat the customer like they are doing us a favor by serving us. I will not give my business to those that do. Conversely, I think that if an establishment attempts, in good faith, to please their customers, they should be "rewarded" with continued business.

Just my $.02
