Stopped in my LDS the other night, chatted up the owner, and got the impression that times are tough for LDS owners!

So.... go BUY something at your local LDS! Help these guys out, eh? :D

Heading to Bonaire next week - any RMO'ers going to be there? The first Polar is on me!

Go buy something? :D

Times are tough. I hope that our LDS's survive.

Rather then me buying much I try to promote diving by getting new divers into the sport. I figure that goes a long way towards LDS health, but they are on their own from a survival standpoint.

I mean, they are not there helping me out when I'm out of work...

When I need/want something I will buy it. Sometimes from my LDS, sometimes online. People in Haiti deserve charity, not my LDS.

Excellent point - better to bring new people into the sport than to waste money and resources buying stuff you don't need. But.... if you are like me and are wearing an 18 year old wetsuit that you bought for surfing back in 1991, maybe, just maybe, it's time for an upgrade. ;)

My LDS is very willing to help, knows me by name (even though I'm in there about twice per year), and has stayed open late to help me out of a jam. So.... I've got a little more sympathy for them because they've done their job of customer service. Quite frankly, they *deserve* to stay afloat more than most business I encounter. IMNSHO. :cool2:

You are right. People in Haiti probably deserve your money more than you deserve a dive vacation. You might make the case that Rwandan's deserve your charity more than Haitians. Tough to know where to send your money these days.

My original post was tongue in cheek. I feel for the LDS owners that are affected by the economy - many of which are not responsible for the poor economy. Don't get me started on our politicians who I blame are responsible for this economy. Certainly, they are way more to blame than our LDS owners.
