Chicago Dive Party Round 2..... 6/12-13

Just returned from sunny Gary, IN after completeing the first 66% of the Chicago Dive Party. (Note to self - wear a hat you fool...!)

Capt. Mike's boat the N'Pursuit is nice. Good killer tunes and very fast. Weather turned out ok for todays dives. A little chop and sway on the way out for the first dives (3-4'), but then the lake appeared to calm way down to 1-2'. Capt Mike & DM Dave were always ready to lend a hand... (Note to self 2: your the idiot who wanted to dive doubles) The boat will certainly handle doubles, however the ladder doesn't extend off the transom, so you hafta be able to make the big step up.

I forget all the wrecks, orders, depths, etc. Followups will post that. But I had to sneak in here to get the first post. Apparently Capt. Mike received two CDs of "Scuba Tunes" and he popped 'em in the cd deck between dives 3-4. All funny and filled with scuba nomenclature, but by far the funniest was entitled "Is that a morey eel in your pocket" Needless to say, comedy ensues...

You nailed it, Tim. Capt. Mike runs a fine ship. The wrecks were:
Tacoma
David Dows
Materials Service Barge
Lousiville (twice because of deteriorating weather on Sunday)
Illinois & Holly

IMHO, the Illinois & Holly were the pick of the litter: lots to see, especially on the Illinois. These wrecks have a line run between them, and are usually done as one dive.

Dive log corrections,

Saturday morning:

Materials Service Barge
Tacoma

Saturday Afternoon:

Louisville
David Dows

Sunday Morning:

Illinios/Holly Barge
(Intended second dive was Flora Hill, but bad weather made this a not good idea)
Materials Service Barge

I'll put in a more full report later. Great diving with all of you in spite of the long drive (and having to pick that hour back up that I lost traveling west). We'll have to do it again.

Doh!

Sorry that it took so long, but this is a more complete trip report. It is based off our website and I added a shipwreck page to the GLWC site.

If you want, view it at http://palmerenterprises.net/chicagoouting.html . Enjoy!
