So did anyone ever actually explore the tunnels beyond the grate at the bottom of the Ginnie Spring cavern? What made it so dangerous that they barred it up? Just curious if anyone knows. All the stuff I read on websites regarding it just say it was too silty and maze-like but don't really say anything beyond that.

Ahh thanks for the link. Fascinating. Was there any reason for barring it up other than the fact that untrained divers were killing themselves?

I mean, an untrained diver can get themselves killed in any cave system, but they don't bar them all up. Why Ginnie?

Correct, the used dynamite on some.
Seems pretty wrong for them to do that at Morrison in retrospective. That's thousands of years of nature's work we'll never get back because they couldn't trust divers to use discernment. At least the grate at Ginnie is undo-able.
