The road bottoms out at about 100 ft. There is a large boulder sitting near the end of the road before it opens up into a large area along the west end. You can dive along this wall at just about any depth and follow it back around to the south and east. It is a very enjoyable dive and normally very clear at this end. I have never filled out a deep dive plan with Mike for this area, but it would'nt hurt to double check with him.

One of the easiest ways to see them is to snorkle out over the deep side. I followed one for 30 minutes doing this two years ago. It was very cool. Saw four in about an hour. Plus you don't need to file a dive plan.

Do they get spooked by you snorkeling over them or are they pretty much oblivious to your presence?

...especially since the deep plan is very clear that anything over 80ft and/or on the north side of the submerged wall requires a plan. ;)

Sneak diving the deep side isn't a good option considering recent events. You are doing so in violation of Mike's rules at your own risk.

I couldn't find an example or template of the deep plan that Mike requires on the website. Bob, you might want to recommend that he put it out there on the website. If it's there and I missed it could you point it out to me? I think it will help folks to think about and complete one ahead of time. I think it is also good to force some planning ahead of time.

He's chosen not to have the forms available from the website.

Really. That's certainly within his right. It is his business. I'm just wondering why. I can think of many good things about having the form on the website and I can't really see a downside. I certainly may be missing something though.

He doesn't mind if you take a couple with you though. I have a copy that I duplicate so I can have my AOW students practice filling it out in class. Makes a great intro to a discussion of the rigors of diving deep there.

Don't feel left out Ken...she has never shown me the paddlefish either

I JUST took Barry and he's been helping out with the scuba program longer than I have (I've been there 14 years) so you boys have a while to wait :rofl3:

If you're going on the north side you have to fill out the waiver. My DM and I did a 30 foot dive there looking for paddlefish (and found them!) and we had to fill out the waiver.

How large were the paddlefish? We're going up to Loch Low Minn quarry shortly, since they've recently added paddlefish as well (only a couple of feet long, from what I understand, including the paddle...)

...sorry for the hijack...
