DaveG:ok maybe it wasn't the viper cause the gekko is larger than what i used
Perhaps you used the Mosquito, its sized like a wrist watch. Otherwise it functions just about the same as the Vyper.

tonyc:I have the Vyper and my wife has the Gekko. If you don't care about not being able to download the profile then go for the gekko. I like the gekko's phospholuminecent display, you don't have to worry about hitting the light button everytime you look at it at night or in low vis.

DaveG:Well I have bought the Gekko but won't be using it untill April 16. As i will be taking my Advanced OW including nitrox and night dive, it will get a thorough workout. i will report back after my return from Cayman on the 25th.
DeepTrip:Dave,
Have you use your Gekko? How is it?
I got a chance to play around with my friend's Gekko. Not using it in a real dives though, but I think it is a best computer for money.
DementialFaith:Vytec and Cobra are the only two with air integration.
Only Vytec has wireless air int.
Stinger, Vytec, Cobra, and Vyper all have 150ft max depth display, but Gekko and mosquito only have up to 99ft
All have backlight except for Gekko, which uses phosphorescent display
All have log book. profile memory capacity of 36h, Gekko has 50h
Stinger samples 6 times a minute, mosquito 3 times, Vytec, Vyper and Cobra4 times, Gekko twice
Stinger and Mosquito have dual time calender clock, watch mode, and stopwatch capability.
Gekko has no gauge mode.
All have O2 setting from 21-50 except Vytech, which has 21-99 and the ability to switch gas twice in a dive.
I used a Favor S before(the one Gekko is suppose to be "replacing") and now I'm using a cobra, I think the Suunto system is very easy to work with (3 buttons) and they are very conservative computers.
