I didn't! That's the problem. You can still go to the Galapagos and do land based diving. But the issue is mainly for the people who booked a trip to Darwin and Wolf aboard other boats than Agressor or Peter Hughes. For instance: Deep Blue or Lammerlaw.

Still crossing my fingers...

Well, we have just recieved notification from our agent that as of Monday all trips are back on, including Wolf & Darwin. Hope you hear the same too!

I think what onderwaterfoto means, Lou, is that this just said that dive operators will be allowed to continue through December.... but many divers don't want to go to Galapagos if they find out they're not going to be allowed to dive Aa Wolf & Darwin. And this makes no mention of that detail.

I would guess that they will all be allowed to resume diving tours where they had previously, MAYBE including Wolf & Darwin, for the remainder of this year. But that they'll be implementing their new rules in January, so all bets are off if you have a dive trip sceduled for 2008 and beyond.

@LouUK: I think I didn't read the article to well. I haven't heard from my Dutch tour operator yet. But we are scheduled for October 3rd 2007. So that's good news for now! But I wait with my champagne bottle until I wake up aboard the Lammerlaw and see Wolf Island in front of the bow.

@suzbo: You are right suzbo. If the GNP authorities admit the other boats to go to Darwin and Wolf (the ones that are already booked), I regret the fact that people who are thinking about going to Darin and Wolf in 2008 can only choose between 3 boats (I think the price will go up). Agressor and Peter Hughes are fully booked for 2008 I heard.

As Lou said, our agent is adamant that we will definitely be going to Wolf and Darwin on the Deep Blue at the beginning of October.

Lou et al, I'm very glad to hear that your trips appear to be back on; that you'll get to experience just how extraordinary Wolf (and especially) Darwin Island are! Please be sure to tell Jeff (divemaster) and Juan Carlos(divemaster#2) how much we enjoyed the Deep Blue and we wish them the best now that this issue is partly resolved. Can't wait to read your trip reports...

Glad to hear it's working out.

I had a friend in Galapagos on the Aggressor last week, he sent a photo of the schooling hammerheads. Rumors of their demise are overstated. The schools are very large.

I have also heard that, as of 2008, there will be dive trips, and there will be land trips,. but no crossover. Dive boats won't have land tours, which is a real shame.
