Also if your doing deco you have more than one bailout tank. So even with a BOV your still needing to take loop out of mouth.
Not if using QC'S like a Swagelock on each BO

Realistically switching high flow QDs for BOV input is the same effort as switching regs. Either way there's going to be a few seconds of fussing where you can't breathe.

Só that's why IMHO is advisable tô have both QD and seconds on each BO, with bottom gas connected at the begining
Specifically on that specifically, ayou can have good arguments in Either way as your training and esperience raises
Diver using more than one BO gases, in theory, should be able to think and look what works for them.
There is no absolute true, and opinions may change with time and experience (that includes my own) Nothing is static

Why have it with a BOV?
Because keeping an unbreathable loop in your unconscious lips does nothing. Pray(?) you regain consciousness? BOV allows your buddy to leave your loop in your mouth and switch you to a breathable gas.

so you would bail out and gas switch using QC's during entire deco?
i.e. you will complete the entire dive on your BOV? must be a really good WOB on that BOV where can I get one?

Shrimp/Divesoft definitely not up to that - I would gas switch to a regulator ASAP after going to the BOV.

Matan.

Gag strap is behind your neck as the mouthpiece is in your mouth.

Mask strap is behind your head as the mask is on your face.

Unless the gag strap can be extremely loosened, you can’t pull the loop+gag strap over your mask.

Therefore loop+gag strap first, then mask.

Mel taught me the opposite, that way I can quickly remove the gag strap with losing the mask. But I also don't dive a BOV.
