I sent you this question via the Whites website, but never heard back:

You recommend McNett Seal Saver for the latex seals.

What's the official word on:

Mcnett UV Tech - Surface Protectant?

Talcum powder?

Thanks

Henrik

I have used all three on my fusion - at the moment I am using the UV Tech as I have a bottle and it's a nice protectant.

I have found powder and seal saver to both be decent options as well. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, but maintaining your seals with a decent product (any of the above) should be fine. On my previous dry suit I only ever used powder - and never had to replace a seal over five years.

Jim; Thanks for the field-tested information.

I was hoping Whites would chime in with the official "this is good, but don't use this because ..." final word.

+1 for talcum powder. I have averaged 5 years per set of seals for the last 15 years.

Jim; I'll give them a bit of time before I ping them directly :)

Thanks Larry; I pretty much figured talcum is go and just received a batch (I'm set for life :)).

When and how often? Sorry for the hi jack.....

Pretty much the same pattern with just powder - powder them before the dive, then powder them again after the seals are dry.

Obviously, the post dive powder serves as the next pre-dive powder.

Talcum powder is ok, seal saver is ok, as far as UV tech is concerned - we have not done any testing with it to my knowledge - that does not mean it won't work or do harm. So without having a list of contents in UV tech I would feel apprehensive about recommending it.
