I was interested in a 2mm or 3mm vest that is front zip that covers the upper torso (chest).

Any suggestions on ones to get?

I know that Henderson makes one, but they are $120 for the Hendersons. I just don't see them being worth that much when you can buy a shortie for half that or a full 3mm wetsuit for that of a different brand. I just don't think I'd use it all that much to fork over $120.

I also found this one at Divers Direct.

thanks for any suggestions.

I have one of the evo vests, I've only used it on one occasion but it seems to be of pretty solid construction. It was useful when layering and I suppose it would work well alone too, for a little extra warmth snorkeling or something. Hope that helps a little.

I have the 2004 version of this Bare item (no front zip, no need for it either.

I wear it under ,3,5 and 7mm fullsuits and it's the untimate layering garment. Mutes the back zip and makes the neck opening almost non existent. Meanwhile it holds a film of water to your core, the thermal-skin is great. In fact I just got out of it 2 hours ago, it's dripping in the gear locker.

I was thinking of using it like you guys.... both alone in really warm water or in layering under a 3mm full or a 5mm full.

I looked at the BARE website and noticed none of theirs have zippers. how hard is it to get on/off without the zipper?
