Every time I walk past the bakery section I fill up the tray with an assortment of baked goods. Every time I am dissapointed by the bland, tastes like crisco, crap that looks good but tastes like fatty cardboard. I thought that maybe it was just supermarket quality and not a bakery, but here at home I tried a local panaderia and it also fell short. Maybe a good business idea for someone looking to open a new business on coz would be a pastry shop or bakery. They say bakers make a lot of bread.
As far as what's good I like loading up one of those bent up metal pastry trays in the Mega with one of everything. You never know what's going to be so-so or awesome by the looks of it, so just get one of each.
By the way, the damn Mayans invented chocolate, you'd think the Mexicans could make some good tasting chocolate treats, but they cant! :depressed:
I am wondering if fresh fruits, eggs, meats, and veggies purchase from the grocery store ("Mega") are safe for an American to eat? I don't want to be in the bathroom my entire stay.
Anything in the store I should avoid eating?
Gracias
cvchief, glad to see us agree on something. Kaokao chocolate is awesome. Made by a French girl and her Mexican husband. My favorite is the chile one (in a sandwich with a roll from Zermatt). Can be bought at Coffee Bean (El Coffee Cozumel on Calle 3), Maharaja on Avenida 15 close to Calle 1, Los Cinco Soles on Melgar, or directly at the "factory" (Calle 1 bis sur entre Avenida 80 y 85). They also do tours to explain the whole process of chocolate making. Here's their website : Chocolates Kaokao, Cozumel México
